NAVYA, the autonomous French car is heading for the fast lane

Team Navya

Commercial success, an IPO, new technological developments ... Just four years after its creation, it’s all systems go for NAVYA, the French specialist of autonomous cars.

Since the 2015 launch of AUTONOM SHUTTLE, NAVYA’s first vehicle without a steering wheel or pedals, the French company has proven it has four wheels firmly on the ground. In just under four years, the company has manufactured more than 100 driverless shuttles – 100% electric and 100% autonomous –of which 89 were sold in 17 countries by June 2018, transporting no less than 275,000 passengers since 2016. The company expects to reinforce its initial growth by launching its new model “AUTONOM CAB”, designed for the taxi marketplace.

The trip across Paris

Though NAVYA headquarters are based in Lyon, the French startup’s success story owes much to the capital. Its founders initially chose to set up their R&D center in the heart of Paris. The goal: attract talent and benefit from the global radiance of the City of Light. Finally, thanks to Euronext Paris NAVYA raised €37.6 million in July 2018 to finance growth and new technological developments.

Educate. Convince. Improve.

For the next few months, the startup’s number one challenge remains the same: to convince. First, political decision makers who have the power to change regulations in favor of autonomous vehicles. Beyond elected officials, the company also has to persuade end users, who sometimes find this new means of mobility unnerving.

Incubation by Paris&Co facilitated access to public and private players likely to support the growth of NAVYA in the Paris metro area, in France and internationally while providing a modular framework that matched our needs at a vital moment of our business development”, Nicolas de Cremiers, NAVYA Marketing Director.
