Online HR forerunners, PeopleDoc now straddles the Atlantic
In the summer of 2018, Parisian software editor PeopleDoc entered into exclusive negotiations for a 100 % acquisition by American giant Ultimate Software. A deal that crowned the perfect track record of an HR digitization pioneer.
10 years of existence, 280 employees in 7 global offices and more than 1,000 clients located in 188 countries (more than 4 million employees are users). PeopleDoc has signed one of the most impressive deals in recent history on the Parisian startup scene. A success story that is largely due to its founders’ ability to adapt. While today’s platform simplifies and digitalizes corporate RH operations, the project initially focused on the daily correspondence of the average man in the street.
Enhancing the employee experience
Going well beyond the secure storage of online documents, this SaaS service now automates the entire RH process to quickly and efficiently meet the needs of employees and managers. A promise that has already convinced prestigious and demanding clients such as Avis Budget, Club Med, Nestlé, and Yves Rocher.
Everything changes, yet nothing changes
The acquisition of PeopleDoc for around $300 million at the end of 2018 will make the French startup a subsidiary of the Ultimate Software group. The goal: to accelerate the development of the Parisian software editor throughout Europe and North America, without losing its DNA. PeopleDoc will maintain its product ‘roadmap’ and will continue to invest in its current client partnerships. As for Ultimate Software, they will offer PeopleDoc solutions to customers via the ‘HCM UltiPro’ suite.
“I have fond memories of great emulation and support in both good times and bad. Paris&Co gave us access to subsidies and funding resources that we’d simply never heard of”, Jonathan Benhamou.
